Our principal charity has been the Wirral Churches Ark Project for the Homeless.
This charity started many years ago when a church first opened its doors around Christmas to allow homeless people sleep there for a couple of weeks. The following year the couple of weeks became a month, the year after it was six weeks, and so on.
Nowadays, through the provision of separate accommodation, housing provision exists 365 days a year (except leap years).
The charity remains essentially a Christian charity and whilst valuable financial provision is made by the Local Authority, the Wirral Churches still play a major role in the provision of volunteer work, food and other things. Not only does the Ark provide housing, but it works towards assisting its residents return to the community.
Please visit the Ark's website to discover the work that they perform.
